Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is a show that depicts a single mom who raises her only daughter in a small town. This entire show follows the lives of these two women and the people that surround them. Although the majority of single female parents are living in a low-income bracket, the mother Lorelai is a white well off  female who comes from a very rich family. Although she doesn't accept any money from her parents she still seems to have a big house and able not seem to be struggling at all when it comes to money for most of the show. the only time where Lorelai seems to struggle with money is when her daughter Rory is going to Yale which is a very expensive school and when she is opening up her own Inn. They appear to be the only moments where Lorelai fits into the average single female parent income bracket. The problems within the show is that it shows how this female is able to go to her parents for help if she ever is really struggling, which she did when Rory was going to college, but overall this shows how this single white female parent will never really be struggling because she has her rich parents to fall back on when things get really hard. Also the show shows and discusses how Lorelai had help raising Rory from the people in the small town where she lived. Showing how Lorelai received help to raise a child doesn't help women in real life who actually raise children on their own , it shows how women can never raise a kid on their own successfully without help from outside people.
