Classes...
In light of today's documentary and readings, I find it innovatory that each show represents the real issues that were going on in the country. When it came to women being in charge, shows like Roseanne came up. When it came to representing working class mixing with upper class, Fresh Prince of Bel Air came on air. The writers of such shows have to be very aware of the issues and problems that are going on in order to showcase these problems in shows. In some cases, like the producers noted, it was really hard to advertise, or due to poor effort, certain shows which is why they did not last for such a long time. When I look at the shows that represented each era, todays' shows definitely touch upon issues such as gay and lesbian marriage, single parents or young adults living on their own. In my opinion, shows are shifting toward being very superficial compared to what they used to be. Many shows today are reality, drama, action and not as much focused on issues that really matter. Perhaps, they are taking a new direction and having people focus on entertainment rather than face reality.
