The Avengers

Avengers is one of the recent superhero films coming out that includes many of superheroes from Marvel comics. The Avengers is a prime example of what we discussed today in class. The Avengers it self is a media convergence, since it combined all the different characters into one story line and plot to create a new comic. Now that they have created a film from the comic, there are more toys and comics coming out to go along with the film. There are even conventions for fans to participate in and meet the characters as well as have a change to dress up as them as well. There are fan sites that provide information about each character which helps increase knowledge about the film. Fans are participating in the world of The Avengers and preparing for the film by creating blogs buying merchandise and getting connected to the film in anyway possible way. This fan of each character to come together and share discussion about different characters that another may not know about. Nowadays there is not one popular book that has turned into a movie that doesn't have at least one fan site as well as toys and even card/board games that a fan can get to continue to interact with that world and other fans long after the film/TV show has premiered and/or ended.
