Gender
After watching the three videos, I found it quite interesting to see how influential media text is to our society. The way men and women are portrayed through media presents us with the interpretations and stereotypes we have developed and maintained over many years. The way we are raised is essentially based off of our surroundings and what we are taught, especially when it comes to how to act, talk, dress, and basically what is socially acceptable. Men are supposed to be strong, fearless, and are given a masculine stereotype which puts pressure on us to be like these men portrayed in media because it is socially acceptable. For example, action heroes and soldiers are often male characters and are used to show strength in our gender.
