Fame!
I think discussing fame can be a bit problematic because it means different things to different people. To me, being famous means being recognized by a large group of people due to a heroic action or just having celebrity status. To others, it can mean saving a cat from a tree and being the town hero for example, or just having a lot of money. I think Andy Warhol's quote that we talked about in class is referring to fame as any action that gets one recognized, so everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame for something they did, whether it is because they are an actor/actress or a firefighter who saved a child's life. It is impossible to discuss fame in a global manner because there is no universal definition for it, so someone is bound to get upset. I find it interesting the things we give people credit for and the things we overlook. There are Hollywood stars that are just famous for being born into a rich family like the Hilton sisters or the Kardashians and there are people like firefighters and doctors that barely ever get recognized for saving people's lives. I think this is interesting because this shows that we construct the meaning of fame ourselves, there is no set definition as to what it is.
