The Magic Superior?

The meaning behind 'the magic negro' is a fascinating concept to me.  I'd never heard of it until a few days ago in class when it was explained to me in realation to a bell hooks article.  The magic negro is what has been coined for the black characters in movies working to better the character of the white actors.  It caught my attention because in thinking of movies this can be applied to, I realized it's evident in almost every single movie with black characters and white characters.  Green Mile, The Bucket List, Remember the Titans, etc.  All are prime examples.  Why is it that even in 2012 movies are still being made like this?  I also wonder why the white characters, who are supposed to be portraying the dominant group in society are learning from the black characters.  We're always talking in class about how the white race acts as though they're better than every other race and is the dominant race in society, so why aren't they the ones teaching the other "inferior" races?  Maybe this is too abstract of a thought, but I guess if the dominant group wants to claim dominance, they should be setting the example and teaching the subordinate, right?  I would coin this inverted magic negro, 'the magic superior'.  The superior group serves to better the inferior.  Are there any movies out there that have this reversed style of plot line?
