Different Perspectives

I found today's lecture really interesting because it is something to which we can all relate.  There is always a time and a place to watch certain television shows, soap operas, cartoons, etc.  Sometimes we are at a time and place where we accidentally end up in a room with someone and it may end up being really awkward because that was not the intended plan.  I remember watching a TV show, and the group of main characters accidentally stumble upon a video tape where their friend is a porn star.  They bring it up to him and he was very embarrassed and kept denying that it was him.  The part where they sit down with him and have to watch it, and he finally admits it, and turned out to be the most awkward situation.
Unlike that instance, sports are a category that can be viewed by all genders and ages and it would not be strange; sports can be watched at home, at a friend's house, at a bar, almost anytime and anywhere; it can even be watched without any sound.  If sports are watched without sound, the score is still written on the screen and the whole point of the game is to keep your eyes on the screen.  Now looking at a completely different instance, the news, for example can be on television without even watching.  The whole point of news is to get the story, although they do face you as if they're having a conversation, usually most of the story can be understood without watching the screen.
